Valentine's Day sorta screwed my schedule up and I've found a new art project to keep me occupied. I finished the picture above yesterday and I'm about to start on a four part series later today. I figure I can spend some time blogging today though because I'm tired of spending all my time hunched over my "art table" which is also known as my clothes drier.

"The Libertine" is based on Roy Lichtenstein's style which uses pointalism, which is extremely tedious. If I had created this image with photoshop or painter, it would have been no big deal, I could have just applied a filter. That's one of the reasons I believe that traditional art requires a greater amount of skill than digital. But I digress. Lichtenstein is famous for recreating panels from 1950's comic books using Benday-dots. It's a fun style, given my love for comic books, I'm surprised I've never tried it before. I'm not used to paying so much attention to facial detail and symmetry. I usually rely on nipples to distract from such things, but I'm more than pleased with the result, hence posting the picutre on every website I maintain. Below is my favorite Lichtenstein painting "Drowning Girl" which, ironically is featured in the living room of one of the characters on Coupling. Yes, I know I'm obsessed.
